Welcome to Troop 56!

Troop 56 was founded 11/12/13 and formally expanded its program to include girls in January 2023. 

Troop 56 is carrying on the tradition of excellence of both, Cub Scout Pack 56, and the legendary former *Troop 22, with an emphasis on the outdoors.

The Troop embodies the ideals of Scouting and of Lusher Charter School now known as "The Willow School:

 *Troop 22 was a Troop at Lusher Charter School in the 50s and 60s that did extraordinary things including sailing to Cuba and was known as a PineTree Troop which meant they could make and break camp in 10 minutes.

Scout and Scout Leader Name Badges

We will be ordering custom Name Badges for Scouts and Scout Leaders.  The Troop will be covering part of the cost so the cost will only be $10 per badge.

Its time to get back to adventures! Our first scout meeting is this Tuesday at 5:30 - 6:45 at the Willow Middle school. Please wear your uniform or if you can't manage it, your neckers and be prepared with your scout handbooks and ideas to work through with your patrols. It will be a busy year! We also have our first event coming up quickly - Shoot swim and climb is on the calendar the the cut-off for registration is September 1 - the actual event is September 11-12 - all the details and registration is here - https://neworleans56.mytroop.us/node/2983 Make sure you have those health forms (part A and B is all that is required for less than 72 hours) and it is for ALL ATTENDEES (adults and scouts) for your safety. Expect to have a committee meeting coming up soon as we fill the calendar between scouts and parent volunteers. Questions? Please reach out to your scouts, patrol leaders, senior patrol leaders...you know the drill. See you Tuesday!

New Scout Leaders (we encourage all parents to register as a leader and take some leadership position)  Complete the application as well asd the S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth training and then forward the application AND certificate of completion to Nancy or Richard (or the designated person)

Meeting Tomorrow 5:30! Adult Training (fun fun fun) 07/16-17

All Scouts - Meeting tomorrow at 5:30 at the Starbucks located at Jefferson and Freret - please have your beverage or whatever and be on the porch, prepared, for 5:30 pm - class B or casual dress is fine.

What a great time at summer camp! Again thank you to Mr. David, Mr. Richard, Mr. Stephen and Ms. Anne for their time and energy taking care of our scouts. Our SPL and ASPL Vivian and Langston were awesome as well! Lots of learning and fun! The earnings report has been posted on the calendar page but all scouts have received an updated advancement report in their email today. Next up! Summer plans! Reminder that all patrols should be planning their adventure for patrols, the troop, both. Akum Bedi is your new webmaster and can assist with getting the word out!
