Welcome to the Troop 56 Website (www.troop56.org)

Welcome to Troop 56!

Troop 56 was founded 11/12/13 and formally expanded its program to include girls in January 2023.

Troop 56 is carrying on the tradition of excellence of both, Cub Scout Pack 56, and the legendary former *Troop 22, with an emphasis on the outdoors.

The Troop embodies the ideals of Scouting and of Lusher Charter School now known as "The Willow School:

Project Pride
Be Kind
Be Responsible
Respect People and Property
Do Your Best Work

Scout Oath
On my honor, I will do my best. To do my duty to god and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Scout Law
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Troop 56 motto
Help the other fellow

*Troop 22 was a Troop at Lusher Charter School in the 50s and 60s that did extraordinary things including sailing to Cuba and was known as a PineTree Troop which meant they could make and break camp in 10 minutes.

We do not have enough scouts from any patrol to use our regular patrols so we will be making temporary patrols just for this trip.

Patrols were selected by rank and then age.  We attempted to have them equally weighted. Adults are assigned to each patrol to assist and to eat but not to do all the work.  Two  scouts per tent with no more than a two year age gap between tentmates. Tentmates DO NOT have to be in the same patrol, but they must be the same gender :)

Scout To 1st Class-- Note from Senior Scouts

Good Evening, Troop 56,

How to use Meeting Agenda and plan the weekly Troop meeting.

Posted on Mar 31 2026 - 2:59pm

There still seems to be a good bit of confusion about how to plan the troop meetings and how to use the planner.

The scouts/patrols are expected to plan an organize the meetings. This does not mean they have to be the instructor for the actual meeting. The meeting can be something that requires an outside expert or adult to teach whatever skills.

Time for Organization and RSVPs

Great meeting last week! Thanks Mr. Richard. Not a fan of the reports of how the USS Alabama went. No shows. Scouts not organizing their parents. Reports of people not being "informed". Remember scouts it is YOUR responsibility to organize your path in the troop. I understood we had "no-shows" causing confusion for rides. This doesn't happen in the troop where people donate their valuable time and space in vehicles. MOVING ON. You will note that there are notes in the Summer Camp attendee list that says "Updated" that means you have received an email that has your link and information to pick your courses. If you are not paid, please do so. If you have not registered and paid, time is starting to run short until fees increase.

Other events, Scout to First class - this is for ALL scouts who are not first class to LEARN, others to LEAD. Mary Brown is a lovely trip to ATTEND. Thank you to all those parents who are volunteering to drive. It makes your Scoutmaster smile. Enjoy spring, enjoy scouts, make a positive difference today!
