Welcome to the Lusher Charter School Troop 56!

Troop 56 is a growing Troop, founded 11/12/13, and off to a great start.  Troop 56 is carrying on the tradition of excellence of both, Cub Scout Pack 56, and the legendary former Lusher Troop 22, with an emphasis on the outdoors.

The Troop embodies the ideals of Scouting and of Lusher Charter School.

Red Cross lifeguard Certification- Tulane

Posted by nexnicios on Jan 22 2018 - 11:57am

Many of the older scouts have asked about Lifeguard training.  I would recommend that you take your lifeguard certifications through Red Cross and not BSA if you plan on working.  BSA WILL recognize Red Cross, and BSA is becoming more closely aligned with Red Cross, but to my knowledge they have not officially merged at this time except for the professional rescuer component (the CPR and AED pieces).  The information below is for the Reily Center program at Tulane.  You are welcome to look at the Red Cross website for other options.  I would urge you not to wait too late as camps will require your certifications before confirming your spots as waterfront or pool folks (i.e. paying you more).  Any questions, feel free to ask me (nexnicios@bellsouth.net)
