Welcome to the Troop 56 Website (www.troop56.org)

Welcome to Troop 56!

Troop 56 was founded 11/12/13 and formally expanded its program to include girls in January 2023.

Troop 56 is carrying on the tradition of excellence of both, Cub Scout Pack 56, and the legendary former *Troop 22, with an emphasis on the outdoors.

The Troop embodies the ideals of Scouting and of Lusher Charter School now known as "The Willow School:

Project Pride
Be Kind
Be Responsible
Respect People and Property
Do Your Best Work

Scout Oath
On my honor, I will do my best. To do my duty to god and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Scout Law
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Troop 56 motto
Help the other fellow

*Troop 22 was a Troop at Lusher Charter School in the 50s and 60s that did extraordinary things including sailing to Cuba and was known as a PineTree Troop which meant they could make and break camp in 10 minutes.

Hello new scouts, upcoming weekend activities, new events and SHORTS on sale!

Posted on Mar 30 2025 - 3:43pm

We have a lot of information to cover this week. First a big welcome to our AOLs who are now welcome to attend any and all Troop events! Please note time and dates on our calendar - especially summer camp which requires registration and everything requires physicals so get them done early. Also, I have updated this weekends education offerings, the Public Health Merit Badge Course (registration required through council) and the related Genealogy education through the library (there is a link to the merit badge). NYLT training is on the calendar and registration is open - that is in July for those interested. We also have a camping trip on the calendar, please RSVP yes or no. Also, there are shorts on sale at Costco for those in need - $9.99 for men and $14.99 for women (a little shorter but still fine). They don't usually stay in stock long, just sayin...

Meeting updates, new positions, meetup!

Posted on Feb 24 2025 - 9:59am

Lots of updates! First, no meetup Tuesday and the parade meetup has been moved to WEDNESDAY so we can enjoy seeing Richard and Rex in DRUIDs! We will meet at the O'Neil family home at 1132 Napoleon Avenue to watch the Exnicios clan and a few other people. Sadly our trip for the Swampbase event will not occur. We did not clear the waitlist this year, hopefully next year we can be higher on the list. Standby for another event around that same time. Congratulations to our new scout leadership team!

Super-WEEK! LSU Merit Badge College, Check the calendar!

Posted on Feb 9 2025 - 12:02pm

Hope everyone is enjoying the Superbowl weekend activities! So much going on and Mardi Gras is in full swing as well. Update that we are waiting on Swampbase to get back to us to see if we can squeeze in - stand by on registration confirmation for us. Also the Merit Badge college at LSU, Mr. Skylar will be attending and has some space in his car for those that might like to go - also for adults, they are offering CPR in the morning for $45 - WHAT A DEAL! Please get this if you are not current - SO important! Check our calendar for links and please forward your earning reports or information to Ms. Nancy or Mr. Bryant as other councils are not so great at sending updates from their merit badge colleges. See you on Tuesday!
